First Look: The New 2022 Traeger Timberline Range
The top of range Traeger Timberline has now been given a serious upgrade! Originally launched in 2017, the Timberline is the flagship range showcasing potential future features for the Ironwood and Pro models.
They’ve worked with over 1000 existing customers, made 400 iterations and cooked for over 10,000 hours to get it to where they wanted it to be.
The new Timberline range comes in two sizes, regular and XL (880 / 1320 in old money). That’s going to be enough for nine chickens or eight racks of ribs - the XL however, will give you enough space for twelve chickens or sixteen racks of ribs at the same time across 3 levels of cooking.
Either way, more than enough space to cook your entire meal (plus desert!) on the same unit, especially with the addition of the side induction plate (available on both models) to use a pan or skillet - giving you the flexibility to make this model an all-in-one cooking solution.
Replacing the existing digital screen, there’s a full colour touchscreen display to show the temperatures, and to make any adjustments or updates.
With the acquisition of Meater in 2020, it makes sense to see the integration of the popular wireless thermometer, and both models come with 2 probes as standard, with the option for 2 more.
Using the WiFire technology with updated Wi-Fi antenna, the unit will connect the Timberline and your Meater probes to the Traeger app, making it controllable from anywhere at a touch of a button.
Cleaning has been made simpler with the introduction of a combined grease and ash keg. It doesn’t mean that you’re not going to get the ash vacuum out, but it will mean you will have to do it significantly less.
There’s also a host of new accessories available (and the incorporation of some existing) in the ModiFIRE range to help customise to your personal cooking style: through to a pop-and-lock system to help you create the perfect setup to your needs - it becomes more of a complete cooking solution that just a grill.
Priced at $3499 or $3799 for the XL, both models are available to reserve via the Traeger website for delivery in Spring 2022 for customers in the United States. Those in Europe, UK and Australia will have to wait a little later, but expect to see it at the end of the year for full release in 2023.
